Privacy
Privacy-friendly analytics, without giving up the answers.
Pieowl sets no cookies and never stores IP addresses, and your data stays in the EU. You still get funnels, retention, session replay and revenue by source.
- No cookies
- No stored IPs
- Data stored in the EU
Privacy-friendly analytics counts what visitors do without following who they are across the web. Pieowl does this in three ways. It sets no cookies. It turns each visitor into an ID that changes every day. And it never saves the IP address. Your analytics data is stored in the EU.
Proof
What Pieowl does with a visit
No cookies
The tracking script never sets a cookie. Nothing is stored on the visitor's device.
A visitor ID that changes every day
Pieowl builds the ID from the browser, the IP address, your project and a secret salt. The salt changes every day at midnight, so a visitor can't be followed from one day to the next.
IP addresses are never saved
The IP is used for two things only: to find the country and city, and to build that daily ID. Then it's dropped. There is no IP column in our event storage.
Data stored in the EU
Your analytics data lives in our EU cloud.
Replay hides form inputs
Session replay is off until you turn it on for a site. By default it records only after the visitor agrees in your consent banner. All text and form fields are always hidden, and you can hide any element with data-pieowl-replay-block.
Features
Privacy without the guesswork
Many privacy tools only show page views. Pieowl shows the whole path from first visit to payment:
- Visitors, pages, sources and countries
- Custom events
- Funnels and where people drop off
- Retention: who comes back
- Revenue by source, campaign and referrer
- Session replay, off by default
Every feature is on every plan. See pricing.
Your data
You stay in control of personal data
By default, Pieowl has no names, emails or user IDs for your visitors. Two features tie data to a person, and you choose whether to turn them on:
- identify(): if you send a user ID, name or email, that visitor becomes a known person in Pieowl.
- Session replay: recordings show what a person did on the page. Replay needs your visitors' consent.
If you use either one, treat that data as personal data in your privacy policy. See do you need a cookie banner? for when you need consent.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is Pieowl cookieless?
Yes. The script sets no cookies and stores nothing on your visitors' devices: no local storage, no session storage.
Do I still need a privacy policy?
Yes. Pieowl still processes data about visits, so mention Pieowl in your privacy policy. Most sites rely on legitimate interest for this kind of analytics. Ask your legal advisor about your own setup.
Can Pieowl tell the same visitor apart across days?
No, not for visitors you haven't identified. The salt behind the visitor ID changes every day. A visitor is only followed across days if you identify them with identify().
Where is my data stored?
In the EU.
Is it as simple as other privacy tools?
Setup is one script. Pieowl adds funnels, retention, replay and revenue on top, on every plan.
