The basics

What is Pieowl web analytics?

4 steps to start
  1. 01Add the tracking script
  2. 02Traffic comes in automatically
  3. 03Explore by clicking or asking
  4. 04Let insights find the changes

Pieowl gives you a complete website analytics dashboard as soon as you add the tracking script. No goals to set up, no views, no filters to define.

Here's what you get right away:

  • Key numbers at a glance: unique visitors, sessions, pageviews, pages per session, bounce rate and session duration, each with a trend line and the change from the previous period
  • Traffic sources: top referrers, search engines, social networks and direct traffic
  • UTM campaigns: source, medium, campaign, term and content each get their own breakdown
  • Top pages, entry pages and exit pages: which pages get the most views, where visits start and where they end
  • Devices: browser and version, operating system and version, device brand and model
  • Locations: countries on a map, plus regions and cities
  • User journey: the paths visitors take from landing page to exit
  • Insights: a daily check that highlights big changes in referrers, pages, countries and devices
  • Revenue: if you track revenue, see it next to each source, campaign and page

The useful part: every value is clickable. Click a referrer to filter the whole dashboard by it. Want mobile traffic from Germany? Click the country, then the device, and the view updates. Or type it in plain English, and the AI command bar sets the filters for you.

Pieowl sets no cookies and doesn't store IP addresses. The script is about 3 KB gzipped. Your data is stored in the EU.

Set up

How it works

From zero to full web analytics in a few minutes.

  1. 1

    Add the tracking script

Paste one script tag into your site's HTML, or use an SDK for your framework. That's the only setup.

  2. 2

    Traffic comes in automatically

Page views, sessions, referrers, UTM parameters, devices and locations are captured on their own. No events to define.

  3. 3

    Explore by clicking or asking

Open your dashboard and click any value to filter by it, or type what you want to see in plain English.

  4. 4

    Let insights find the changes

Pieowl looks at your traffic every day and highlights the biggest changes, so you hear about spikes and drops without checking by hand.

Use cases

Who uses web analytics

Anyone with a website who wants clear traffic numbers without the complexity of enterprise tools.

  • Marketers

See which sources, mediums and campaigns bring the most visitors with automatic UTM breakdowns. No goals to configure.

  • Content creators and bloggers

See which pages get the most traffic, where readers come from, and which pages keep them reading.

  • Founders and developers

Add one script tag and move on. No tag manager, and no cookies, so often no cookie banner just for analytics.

  • Agencies with many sites

Give each client its own site and share their overview by link. Click-to-filter makes it easy for clients to explore on their own.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Pieowl web analytics.

What do I need to set up?

Just add the tracking script to your site. Page views, sessions, referrers, UTM parameters, devices and locations are captured automatically. There are no goals, views or filters to configure first.

How is this different from Google Analytics?

Google Analytics uses cookies and asks you to learn its reports. Pieowl sets no cookies, shows everything on one clickable dashboard, and lets you ask your own AI assistant about your data over MCP. It also has product analytics, like funnels, retention and session replay, on the same data.

Do I need a cookie consent banner?

Often not for analytics. Pieowl sets no cookies and stores nothing on your visitors' devices, so in many cases you don't need a consent banner for it. It depends on your country and the features you use: session replay needs consent, and some countries, like Germany, Poland and Ireland, have no exemption for analytics. Our docs page "Do you need a cookie banner?" has the details. Other tools on your site may need one too.

Can I filter by several things at once?

Yes. Click a value to filter the dashboard, then click another to add a second filter. For example, click a country, then a browser, then a referrer to see exactly that slice of traffic.

Which UTM parameters are supported?

All five standard ones: source, medium, campaign, term and content. They're read from the URL automatically, and each gets its own breakdown.

Does the tracking script slow down my site?

The script is about 3 KB gzipped and loads asynchronously, so it doesn't block your page from rendering.

What location data is available?

Countries on a world map, plus regions and cities. Location is looked up from the visitor's IP when the event arrives, and the IP itself is not stored.
