How do I install Pieowl on Shopify?
In your Shopify admin, open your theme's code editor and paste the Pieowl script tag into theme.liquid, before the closing head tag. Page views start coming in right away. There's no Shopify app to install.
Can I track Shopify purchases?
Yes. The most reliable way is to send a revenue event from your backend when Shopify tells you an order is paid, using the Pieowl API or Node SDK. Add properties like order ID or product to break revenue down later.
Does Pieowl work without a cookie banner?
Often not for analytics. Pieowl sets no cookies and stores nothing on your visitors' devices, so in many cases you don't need a consent banner for it. It depends on your country and the features you use: session replay needs consent, and some countries, like Germany, Poland and Ireland, have no exemption for analytics. Our docs page "Do you need a cookie banner?" has the details. Marketing pixels or other apps on your store may need one too.
Does Pieowl have heatmaps?
No. Pieowl has session replay, which lets you watch how shoppers use your pages, plus funnels and retention. If you need heatmaps, use a heatmap tool next to Pieowl.
Will Pieowl slow down my store?
The script is about 3 KB gzipped and loads asynchronously, so it doesn't block your pages.
Does Pieowl work on every Shopify plan?
Pieowl only needs you to add a script tag to your theme. If your plan lets you edit theme code, you can add it.
