Guide · Mixpanel Pricing 2026: What You Really Pay at 1M, 10M & 20M Events

Prices checked October 2026 on mixpanel.com/pricing. Mixpanel changes its plans often, so check the page before you buy.

Is Mixpanel worth the price in 2026? If you track fewer than 1 million events a month, yes: the Free plan is hard to beat. Above that, you pay $0.00028 per event on the Growth plan, minus any volume discount. At the list rate, 10 million events can cost up to about $2,520 a month. Some features, like Group Analytics and Data Pipelines, cost extra on top of that.

This guide shows what you pay on each plan, which add-ons to plan for, and when a different tool, like Pieowl or PostHog, makes more sense.

Mixpanel pricing at a glance

Mixpanel has three plans. You pay for events, not for seats.

Checked October 2026.

Below, we go through what each plan includes, what costs extra, and how the bill grows with your traffic.

How Mixpanel pricing works

Mixpanel uses event-based pricing. An event is one action you choose to track: a page view, a button click, a sign-up, a purchase. Each one counts toward your monthly total.

Events add up fast. Here is an example: 10,000 monthly users who each trigger 10 tracked actions per visit, 3 times a month, send 300,000 events. Grow to 100,000 users and you send 3 million.

So your bill grows with your product. The more people use it, the more you pay.

Mixpanel Free plan

Does Mixpanel have a free plan? Yes. Mixpanel calls it "Free forever", and you don't need a card.

Here's what the Free plan includes:

  • Up to 1M events a month
  • 10K session replays a month
  • Unlimited seats
  • 5 saved reports per seat
  • Up to 10 active feature flags and experiments for up to 1K monthly experiment users (MEU)
  • Insights, funnels, retention and flows reports

Here's what the Free plan leaves out:

  • Unlimited saved reports and cohorts. Growth lifts the 5-per-seat cap.
  • Custom and borrowed properties. These start on Growth.
  • Group Analytics. This is a paid add-on, so it's not on Free.
  • Anomaly detection and root cause analysis. These are on Enterprise.
  • Full lookup tables. Free has a limited version.

The Free plan is a great way to test an idea or run a small product. Once you need more saved reports, account-level analysis or more than 1M events, you'll move to Growth.

Mixpanel Growth plan

Most paying teams use Growth. Mixpanel describes it as "1M monthly events free and $.00028 per event after (volume discounts available)".

That's $0.28 for every 1,000 events above the first million. Mixpanel's price calculator opens at 1.5M events a month. There it shows $140 a month on monthly billing, or $120 a month if you pay yearly.

Here's the list-rate math for bigger volumes. Treat these numbers as an upper limit. Volume discounts can bring them down, so use Mixpanel's calculator for your real quote.

Checked October 2026. Rows above 1.5M are our math from Mixpanel's published per-event rate, before volume discounts.

Growth adds these over Free:

  • Up to 20M events a month
  • 20K session replays a month included, and you can raise that up to 500K
  • Experiments for 5K MEU a month included, up to 100K
  • Up to 50 active feature flags
  • Unlimited saved cohorts, metrics and reports
  • Custom and borrowed properties
  • Up to 5 alerts

Some features are still extra on Growth. We cover them in the add-ons section below.

Free vs Growth: what's the difference?

Checked October 2026.

The short version: Free covers the basics for small products. Growth gives you more room and more reports. But Growth is not "everything included". Account-level analysis, warehouse exports and Metric Trees cost extra.

Mixpanel Enterprise plan

Mixpanel doesn't publish Enterprise prices. You ask sales for a quote, and the price depends on your volume, features and contract.

Enterprise adds:

  • Up to 1 trillion events a month
  • Custom session replay, experiment and feature flag volumes
  • Unlimited alerts and anomaly detection
  • Root cause analysis
  • Data verification and quality monitoring
  • Metric Trees
  • Custom data and replay retention policy
  • First-party tracking domains
  • A dedicated success team and priority support

Mixpanel's pricing page also lists SOC 2 Type II, a choice of US or EU data residency, and HIPAA compliance tools. If your security team needs those, Mixpanel is strong here.

The add-ons that add up

This is where Mixpanel bills get harder to predict. Mixpanel's pricing table marks these as add-ons:

Group Analytics. This lets you analyze accounts or companies, not just single users. If you sell to businesses, you'll want it. Without it, it's hard to answer "which companies use us most?" or "what's our retention by account?"

Data Pipelines. This sends your Mixpanel data to your own data warehouse.

Metric Trees. This maps how your metrics depend on each other. It's an add-on on Growth and included on Enterprise.

More session replays. Growth includes 20K replays a month. If you need more, up to 500K, the price goes up. Use the calculator to see by how much.

When you budget, list the add-ons you'll really need. The base Growth price can look small until you add two or three of them.

Mixpanel startup program

If you run an early-stage startup, Mixpanel has a good offer. Eligible companies get their first year free on the Startup Plan.

To qualify, Mixpanel says your company must:

  • Be founded less than 5 years ago
  • Have up to $8M in total funding
  • Not have redeemed other Mixpanel offers

Mixpanel's startup page says the plan includes 1 billion events, 1 million session replays and its "entire product suite" for the year.

It's a great deal if you qualify. Just plan for year two. When the free year ends, you move to a paid plan or back to Free.

When Mixpanel gets expensive

Event pricing ties your bill to your growth. Here's an example with made-up numbers.

Say you have 50,000 monthly active users. Each one has 3 sessions a month and triggers 20 tracked events per session. That's:

50,000 × 3 × 20 = 3 million events a month

At the list rate, that's up to $560 a month on Growth (2M paid events × $0.00028), before volume discounts and add-ons.

Now say a launch brings you to 400,000 users. With the same habits, that's 24 million events a month. You're past Growth's 20M cap, so you need an Enterprise quote.

Some teams react by tracking less. That's a shame. You want your analytics to grow with your product, not to limit what you can learn.

Where teams feel the cost

You don't need reviews to see where the pressure points are. They follow from how the plans are built:

  • The jump at 1M events. Free is generous, so many teams build on it. The first bill arrives the month they pass 1M events.
  • Add-ons for B2B. If you sell to companies, Group Analytics is close to essential, and it's an add-on.
  • The 20M ceiling. Past 20M events a month, self-serve ends and you need a sales quote.
  • Tracking less to save money. When every event costs money, it's tempting to skip events you'd like to measure.

To be fair, many teams find Mixpanel worth it. It's a mature tool with deep reports, experiments, feature flags and strong compliance. The cost questions mostly come up once you're past the Free plan.

Mixpanel vs Pieowl: pricing comparison

You're reading this on the Pieowl blog, so here's how we compare, as honestly as we can.

Pieowl prices are simple: Starter is $9 a month for 10K events, $19 for 100K, $69 for 1M and up to $169 for 10M. Growth costs twice as much and adds up to 30 sites and 30 team members. Above 10M events, you talk to us for a quote. Every feature is on every plan, and you can try Pieowl free for 14 days.

Mixpanel prices checked October 2026.

On price alone, Mixpanel's Free plan wins up to 1M events. If that's all you need, Mixpanel Free is a very good deal. Here's where Pieowl is different:

Every feature on every plan. There are no add-ons. Funnels, retention, cohorts, session replay and revenue attribution are on Starter and Growth alike.

Ask your AI assistant. Pieowl has an MCP server, so tools like Claude and Cursor can answer questions about your funnels, retention and reports.

No cookies. Pieowl's tracker never sets a cookie, and it doesn't store IP addresses. So in many cases you don't need a consent banner for analytics. See when you still need one, or read more in our cookieless analytics guide.

Low risk to try. You can start with a 14-day free trial and no card. Paid plans come with a 14-day money-back guarantee, and yearly billing gives you 2 months free.

Where Mixpanel is stronger: it has built-in experiments and feature flags, a far bigger free event allowance, published self-serve prices up to 20M events, and compliance options like SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA tools. Pieowl has none of those. If you need them, Mixpanel may be worth the premium.

Tips for managing Mixpanel costs

If Mixpanel is the right tool for you, here's how to keep the bill in check:

Track on purpose. Don't track everything just because you can. Pick your key metrics and the events behind them. You can add more later.

Use the startup program if you qualify. A free first year gives you room to grow before costs kick in.

Look at yearly billing. At 1.5M events, Mixpanel's calculator shows $120 a month billed yearly, against $140 billed monthly.

Clean up old events. Teams pile up tracking that nobody uses. Features get removed and tests end, but the events keep flowing. A check every few months can cut waste.

Ask about volume discounts. Mixpanel says Growth has volume discounts, so check the calculator and ask before you commit.

Check each add-on. Before you buy Group Analytics or Data Pipelines, make sure you really need them.

Making the decision

Mixpanel is a solid product. The reports are powerful, the design is good, and it's one of the most popular tools in its category.

But pricing matters. Before you commit, answer these questions:

  1. How many events will you track a year from now?
  2. Do you need Group Analytics to study accounts?
  3. Do you need your data in a warehouse?
  4. What's the total cost with add-ons, not just the base plan?
  5. What happens to your budget if your user count doubles?

If the answers worry you, compare tools before you're locked in. Our list of Mixpanel alternatives is a good place to start.

How much does Mixpanel cost in 2026?

Mixpanel has three plans. Free covers up to 1M events a month. Growth gives you the first 1M events free, then charges $0.00028 per event ($0.28 per 1,000), with volume discounts, up to 20M events a month. Enterprise is a custom quote. Add-ons like Group Analytics, Data Pipelines and Metric Trees cost extra. Prices checked October 2026.

Does Mixpanel have a free plan?

Yes. Mixpanel's Free plan includes up to 1M events a month, 10K session replays, unlimited seats, 5 saved reports per seat, up to 10 active feature flags, and insights, funnels, retention and flows reports. No card is needed.

What are the Mixpanel Free plan limits?

The Free plan stops at 1M events a month and 10K session replays. You get 5 saved reports per seat. Custom and borrowed properties start on Growth, Group Analytics and Data Pipelines are paid add-ons, and anomaly detection and root cause analysis are on Enterprise.

How much does Mixpanel cost per event?

On the Growth plan, Mixpanel lists $0.00028 per event ($0.28 per 1,000 events) after the first 1M free events each month. It also says volume discounts are available, so large volumes can cost less. Enterprise per-event prices are set with sales.

What counts as an event in Mixpanel?

An event is any user action you choose to track, like a page view, button click, sign-up or purchase. Each one counts toward your monthly total. Mixpanel also offers autocapture, which tracks some events without extra code, and those count too.

Is Mixpanel worth the price?

It depends on your volume and needs. Under 1M events a month, the Free plan is excellent value. Mixpanel is also strong if you need experiments, feature flags or enterprise compliance. If your volume is growing fast or you need several add-ons, compare the total cost with tools that include every feature, like Pieowl.

Does Mixpanel charge for Group Analytics?

Yes. Mixpanel's pricing table lists Group Analytics as an add-on. It lets you analyze accounts or companies instead of single users, which most B2B products need.

How does Mixpanel pricing compare to Pieowl?

Up to 1M events a month, Mixpanel's Free plan costs $0, while Pieowl Starter costs $9 for 10K events, $19 for 100K and $69 for 1M. So Mixpanel is cheaper there. Pieowl includes every feature on every plan with no add-ons, lets your AI assistant query your data over MCP, and sets no cookies. Pieowl prices are public up to 10M events; above that, Pieowl Cloud is priced on request.

Can startups get Mixpanel for free?

Yes. Mixpanel's startup program gives eligible companies their first year free on the Startup Plan. You must be founded less than 5 years ago, have up to $8M in total funding, and not have redeemed other offers. Mixpanel says the plan includes 1 billion events and 1 million session replays.

What happens if I go over 1M events on Mixpanel?

On Growth, events above the first 1M are billed at the per-event rate, up to 20M a month. Past 20M, you need an Enterprise quote. The Free plan covers up to 1M events a month, so plan to move to Growth before you pass it. Check Mixpanel's docs for the exact rules on extra events.

What are cheaper Mixpanel alternatives for startups?

Pieowl has a 14-day free trial, then Starter costs $9 for 10K events, $19 for 100K and $69 for 1M, with every feature included. PostHog has a free tier of 1M events a month. Amplitude's free plan covers 2M events a month. See our full list of Mixpanel alternatives.
