The problem
Why analytics tools fail startups
Tools with the depth you need are priced and built for big teams. Simple tools lack the depth to guide product decisions.
- 01
Simple tools stop at traffic
Some simple analytics tools point you elsewhere if you need session replay, cohorts or retention. That's exactly what a startup needs to find product fit.
- 02
Big tools need an analyst
Enterprise product analytics can answer anything, if someone on the team knows how to build the report. Early teams rarely have that person.
- 03
Cookies and banners
Cookie-based analytics, like Google Analytics, usually means a consent banner in the EU, and a banner is one more thing between visitors and your product.
- 04
Data you can't take with you
If your data only lives in a vendor's cloud, changing tools later is hard. You want raw exports, any time.
What you get
What you need to understand your users
Pieowl combines web and product analytics in one tool, so you don't pay for two.
Event tracking
Track any action with one line of code: clicks, signups, purchases.
Funnel analysis
See where people drop off in signup, onboarding or checkout. Fix the step that costs you the most.
Retention analysis
See how many people come back after day 1, week 1 and month 1. Spot retention problems early.
User profiles and replay
See every event and session for one user, and watch session replays to understand where they got stuck.
Web analytics
Pageviews, referrers, UTM campaigns, devices and countries, out of the box.
Revenue tracking
Send payments as revenue events and see which channels bring paying customers.
Ask your AI
Ask Claude or Cursor where people drop off or which channel converts best. It reads your Pieowl data over MCP.
No cookies
Pieowl sets no cookies and doesn't store IP addresses, so in many cases you don't need a consent banner for Pieowl analytics.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Common questions from startup teams looking at Pieowl.
How much does Pieowl cost for a typical startup?
Start with a 14-day free trial, no card needed. Many early products fit in Starter at $9 a month for 10K events or $19 for 100K. Starter covers 1 site and 1 team member; Growth costs twice as much and covers up to 30 sites and 30 team members.
Can I switch from Mixpanel or Amplitude?
Yes. Pieowl can import your history from Mixpanel and Amplitude, and Umami too. The event model is similar, so moving your tracking calls is mostly renaming. Past Google Analytics data can't be imported.
Is Pieowl GDPR-friendly?
Pieowl is built for GDPR: no cookies and no stored IP addresses. Your data is stored in our EU cloud.
How does Pieowl compare to PostHog?
PostHog covers more products, like error tracking and a data warehouse, and has a free tier of 1M events a month (checked October 2026). PostHog can also be self-hosted; Pieowl has no self-hosted version. Pieowl focuses on analytics, with an MCP server for your AI assistant and simple monthly prices. Pick PostHog for an all-in-one developer platform, and Pieowl for focused product analytics anyone on the team can use.
Do I need both Google Analytics and Pieowl?
Usually not. Pieowl has web analytics, like pageviews, referrers, UTM campaigns, devices and countries, next to product analytics. Keep Google Analytics if you rely on its Google Ads integration.
Which SDKs are available?
A script tag that works in any web framework, plus npm packages for JavaScript, React Native and Node, and @pieowl/bots for AI crawlers. For any other language, use the HTTP API.
Can I track mobile apps?
Yes, with the React Native SDK, or by sending events to the HTTP API from your app. There are no native Swift or Kotlin SDKs today.
