# Install Pieowl

URL: https://pieowl.com/docs/get-started/install-pieowl

The fastest way to start is the script tag. It works on any website.

Quick start [#quick-start]

Add this tag to the `<head>` of your site. Replace `YOUR_CLIENT_ID` with the client ID from your site settings.

```html title="index.html"
<script src="https://pieowl.com/pieowl.js" data-client-id="YOUR_CLIENT_ID" defer></script>
```

That's it. Pieowl now tracks:

* Page views
* Visit duration
* Referrers
* Device and browser
* Location (country and city)

What gets collected [#what-gets-collected]

You choose what the script collects by itself in **Settings → Site → What Pieowl counts**:

* **Page views**: every page someone opens. On by default.
* **Clicks on links to other sites**: which outside links people click. On by default.
* **Clicks you marked in your code**: elements with `data-track="…"`. On by default.
* **Address changes after #**: for one-page sites that change only the part after `#`. Off by default.

The script loads these settings on every page. A change reaches your site within about a minute, with no code to edit.

To send your own events, see [Track events](/docs/get-started/track-events).

Using a framework? [#using-a-framework]
